App Privacy Defaults

Use the App Privacy Defaults to define default privacy permissions for apps on supervised devices. Administrators can identify the privacy components an app uses, list the app and its components in the configuration, and set privacy defaults. When users launch the app, the app checks the configured privacy defaults and prompts users to grant permissions, while allowing them to defer or manage permissions later in device settings.

Applicable to:

  • iOS 27.0+ Supervised through the most recently released version as supported by Ivanti Neurons for MDM.

  • iPad 27.0+ Supervised through the most recently released version as supported by Ivanti Neurons for MDM.

  • macOS 27.0+ Supervised through the most recently released version as supported by Ivanti Neurons for MDM.

Procedure

  1. Go to Configurations > +Add.
  2. Search and select the App Privacy Defaults configuration.
  3. In the Name field, enter a name that identifies this configuration.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description that clarifies the purpose of this configuration.
  5. In the Configuration Settings pane, select Add by Lookup.
  6. Enter the app name for which you want to configure App Privacy Defaults by selecting one of the following options:

    • iOS Store

    • App Catalog

    • visionOS Store

    • OS X Store (macOS)

    You can select multiple apps.

  7. (Optional) Select Add Manually to select an app.
  8. (Optional) Enter the Package Name of the app.
  9. (Optional) Click Add App.
  10. Select View App.

    The View App pane lists all the selected applications.

  11. Click Add Defaults on each application to individually configure the App Privacy Defaults.

    The Add Defaults pane appears.

  12. Select the Defaults and Restrictions as per the following table:

    Select one of the following options:

    • Approximate

    • Precise

    • None

    Local Network

    Select one of the following options:

    • Allow

    • None

    Organization Justification

    The Organization Justification prompt may display the organization name, app name, administrator-provided justification, and details for each component with a recommended privacy default.

    If the user selects Allow, the system applies to the recommended privacy defaults. If the user selects Not Now, consent prompts appear when the app accesses the specified components in the user’s device.

  13. Click Save.

  14. Click Next to configure the distribution settings.
  15. Select one of the distribution options to set up the App Privacy Defaults configuration. For more information about configuring distribution options, see Working with Configurations.
  16. Click Done.
